Welcome to the Weekly Watchlist where every other Monday, I bring you Bing-worthy shows and some of my favorite films of the week!
ONE OF THEM DAYS
Keke Palmer IS A STAR. I knew it—you know it, baby the whole world knows it. Keke Palmer is incredibly charismatic, charming, and hilarious in this role and is the heart of the film. One of them days is about two best friends trying to make their rent money back and avoid eviction before the day is out. It reminds me a lot of Friday, but still remains refreshing. Sza also made her acting debut in this film and really held her own and she had amazing chemistry with Keke. I’ll be giving a thorough review later in the week! But it’s a must-watch—support black filmmakers!
THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS
I’ll be honest: Season 3 has been lackluster compared to the previous seasons. But man, oh man, did the season finale make up for it! The plot is in the name: The story follows four college freshmen (Reneé Rapp, we miss you) as they navigate college and the complexities of sexuality. It’s created by Mindi Hayling, so it’s a show sure to make you laugh and keep you on your toes. It’s raunchy, hilarious, and the epitome of Gen Z humor.
SILO
Finally got around to Silo and— I am hooked. I’m currently on episode 5 and the story is unfolding beautifully. It’s a sci-fi drama series and as much as I’d like to go into the synopsis, I highly recommend going into this without any knowledge! It's so good, that it compelled me to read Wool (the book it’s based on) alongside the show. Super excited to where this goes.
SEVERANCE
A little late to the party. But I watched the first episode of season one and this show has me side eyeing every cooperation. 👀 In short it’s about a cooperation harboring secrets against its employees. Super vague I know—but again with a silo going into this with no prior knowledge is the way to go. It’s extremely compelling, the characters, the setting—everything. I can’t wait to decipher this over the week, and jump into season 2.
XO, KITTY
Finally finished Xo, Kitty season 2 and I didn’t want it to end. The show is a spin-off of the To All the Boys I Loved series created by Jenny Han. The show follows Kitty, Lara Jean's younger sister, as she enrolls in an international school in Korea to explore her family history while navigating romantic relationships with her fellow students. The show is fun, comedic, and binge-worthy material.
